Address by Mr Tang Hong
Subject: Donation of 2.4 Million Ghana Cedis to Support Illegal Weapons Disarmament
Delivered on behalf of the Chinese Communities in Ghana
Honourable Minister,
Thank you very much for granting me this opportunity to meet with you today. On behalf of the Chinese communities in Ghana, I would like to express our deep respect for the important work your Ministry is doing to maintain peace, security, and national stability.
Ghana has long been known for its safety, social harmony, and political stability. These strengths are the foundation of the country’s rapid economic growth and its attractiveness to investors from all over the world, including China. The Chinese communities living and working in Ghana consider Ghana their second home, and we have always valued the peaceful environment this country provides.
However, we are also aware that in recent years, the proliferation of illegal weapons has posed a growing challenge to national security, local communities, and law-abiding citizens. We understand that disarmament is not only a law-enforcement task but also a crucial step in protecting innocent lives and safeguarding long-term social stability.
It is for this reason that the Chinese communities in Ghana have decided to make a donation of 2.4 million Ghana cedis to support the Ministry of Interior’s initiatives to disarm, collect, and neutralize illegal weapons.
Our intention is simple:
• To support the Government of Ghana’s efforts to maintain peace and order
• To contribute to the safety of the communities in which Chinese people and Ghanaians live side by side
• To demonstrate our sincere commitment to Ghana’s long-term development and security
This contribution represents our shared belief that security is the foundation of prosperity. When the country is safe, businesses can thrive, communities can develop, and cooperation between Ghana and international partners—China included—can grow even stronger.
We hope that this donation will serve as a symbol of solidarity, partnership, and mutual respect between the Chinese communities and the Ghanaian government. We also hope it will encourage more stakeholders to join hands in supporting national security efforts.
Honourable Minister,
The Chinese communities stand ready to cooperate with your Ministry in any way that is appropriate, transparent, and aligned with Ghana’s regulations and priorities. We trust your leadership and the professionalism of your team, and we are confident this initiative will make a meaningful impact.
Thank you once again for your leadership and for the opportunity to contribute to the safety and prosperity of Ghana. We remain committed to being responsible, law-abiding, and supportive members of Ghanaian society.
Thank you, Honourable Minister.
