On June 29th, UESTC held the 2020 Center for West African Studies(CWAS)and Center for Israeli Studies (CIS) construction progress working meeting, combining the annual key work and the center construction goals, ideas and achievements to discuss the next high-quality and distinctive development of the center. At the meeting, the directors of the two centers introduced the achievements in scientific research, talent training, and think tank construction in the past three years, and reported on the work plan and key work in 2020. After three years of construction, CWAS has formed a certain influence in the domestic African research field, cooperation and exchanges, and talent attraction. CWAS will focus on three major goals of talent training, think tank construction, and academic exchange, focusing on scientific research. Take the promotion of the think tank construction as the primary task to promote the development of the Center’s various undertakings.
They also exchanged discussions on how to build a high-level and unique national research center in the next step.
After listening to everyone's speech, Shen Xiaorong fully affirmed the achievements of CWAS and CIS in scientific research achievements and social impact. She emphasized that the development of the two centers must adhere to a high starting point and high standards, strengthen cooperation with first-class scholars and institutions, commit to serving major national needs, and strive to become a national think tank. All functional departments should effectively solve the problems encountered by CWAS and CIS during their operation and provide a strong guarantee for the development of them.
