The 2018 International Conference on Public Administration (13th ICPA) was held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province from November 30 to December 2.

The 2018 ICPA began with an opening remark by Prof. Zeng Yong, president of UESTC. In his remark, Prof. Zeng expressed that it is the honor and responsibility of UESTC to promote international academic exchange in the field of Public Administration and to help build a platform for cooperation and exchange in Public Administration between China and the world.
2018 ICPA - Session on West African Studies (SWAS) was co-sponsored by Center for West African Studies of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and Institute of West-Asian and African Studies (IWAAS) of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and supported by Department of Public Administration and International Affairs of Syracuse University, USA; Africana Studies and Research Center, USA; Center for African Studies of Peking University, P.R. China and Chinese Society of African Historical Studies, P.R. China.

2018 ICPA - Session on West African Studies with the theme of "Social and Economic Development in West Africa from Global Perspective" is to reflect successful experiences and lessons from both Africa and abroad for promoting West Africa development. The Conference Closing Ceremony was moderated by Prof. Zhao Shurong, Director of Center for West African Studies of UESTC. Prof. Lan Zhiyong of Tsinghua University delivered a lecture on the Future Research for Public Administration: Challenges and Opportunities, which drew a successful conclusion to the 13th ICPA.
Prof. Tang Zhiwei, Dean of School of Public Affairs and Administration, UESTC expressed his r gratitude to all the delegates for their tremendous contribution,the conclusion of the 2018 ICPA does not mean the end of our research, nor our academic exchange and cooperation. We will continue to strengthen exchange and cooperation with world-class universities and institutions tp promote academic exchanges in the field of public administration.

In 2005, The ICPA was initiated and co-sponsored by the Chinese Public Administration Society (CPAS), the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), Moscow State University, Chinese Public Administration Journal and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), with CPAS, ASPA and UESTC sustaining the ICPA as standing sponsors since then. ICPA has served as an important platform for research institutions, academics and practitioners of public administration to exchange their latest findings, share ideas and update their knowledge for further professional development.
