School Of Public Affairs and Administration in collaboration with the Director of CWAS, Prof Zhao organized an Academic Exchange lecture for the first year international postgraduate students of SPAA.
Prof. Adrian Favell (Chair in sociology and Social Theory) from university of Leeds-UK, was the first speaker for the day. Prof Favell gave a lucid lecture on the theme “Globalization, Mobilities and Inequalities”
Below are some of the some key points explained.
· The makeup of British Empire.
· Causes of immigration.
· The rising economy of China.
The question for discussion as concerned citizens by Prof Favell is how could Global Mobilities work to improve global inequality rather than worsening?
The second speaker in the person of Prof Li Anshan (Center for African Studies, Peking University) a visiting Professor of CWAS, UESTC gave a cogent lecture on the theme “Africa and World Politics”.
Professor Li Anshan outlined the reasons of global migration from Africa as well as the Africa relations with the emerging countries.
He also touched on Africa relations with China, of which he concluded that there is a cordial and healthy relationship between china and Africa as a whole.
His lecture gave a first-hand information to international students about Africa.
