On October 19th, about 30 postgraduate students and three teachers embarked on the journey with the theme “THE CHINESE CULTURAL JOURNEY OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: TRACING THE FOOTPRINTS OF A GREAT MAN” at exactly 07:40am from UESTC to Guang’an. Deng Xiaoping was a great leader of china from the year 1978 to 1992.He led china through far reaching market economy reforms. It was therefore an opportunity to learn much about his beginning and he becoming a great leader

There were beautiful scenes such as contour farming systems around the mountainous areas, beautiful road systems and the green vegetation.

The first visit was Guang’an Middle School, where the great leader had his middle school education.

The principal of the school, Mr. Tian Xuimin and his hardworking teachers welcomed us at the beautiful entrance of the school.

We visited the youthful statue of the great leader Deng Xiaoping where we briefed on the school life of the great leader we also visited some school buildings and the school history exhibition hall.

We were also taken through how to write Chinese characters and paper cut.

As International students we actively interacted with the teachers to seek more information about the school and about school life of the great leader Deng Xiaoping.

The next visit was the former residence of Deng Xiaoping.

A group picture at Deng Xiaoping’s hometown.

The principal, Mr. Tian Xuimin gave the students and teachers from UESTC a treat by providing lunch at a beautiful Chinese restaurant.

It was an educative tour whereas students got lots of information on good leadership of Deng Xiaoping. One important observation was that, the people at Guang'an were very friendly.
