On June 15, 2018, the routine meeting for promoting work by Center for West African Studies (CWAS) of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) has been held smoothly in the Qingshuihe campus. Present were Director of CWAS, Professor Zhao, Deputy directors of CWAS, namely, Professor Li Ping, Professor Zou Tao, Professor Shang Jizheng, Ms. Lin Min, and other relevant staffs for the meeting.
First of all, Professor Zhao briefed what has been accomplished by the Center and expressed her gratitude for each member’s contributions to the Center for West African Studies. She pointed out over the past one year, the Center had made some achievements based on the three primary goals set, which are to establish a training base for talents, to build a high-level academic and cultural exchange platform and to develop into a top-rating think tank for West African Studies. The Centre has gained some influences in African research field both domestically and internationally by a plenty of academic events, such as the successful holding for 2018 Forum on “The 40th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening-up and and Its Implications for African Development”.
This meeting has conclude that CWAS will continue to focus more on its research by improved the rules and regulations established for CWAS. CWAS will also continue to hold some high level academic events with joint efforts from all the memberships of CWAS.
