Graduation Meeting for 2018 International Outstanding Students at UESTC

Focusing on the theme For a More Fruitful Career”, 2018 International Student Graduation Meeting was held at UESTC, Qingshuihe Campus on June 19th, 2018.

On behalf of UESTC, vice president Prof. Xiong Caidong delivered a congratulation speech to the outstanding 2018 international graduates from UESTC. The same wishes and encouragement for their bright future as well as acting as the ambassadorship between UESTC and home countries were also delivered from the director, deputy director of the International School, the Graduate School, director of Center for West African Studies(CWAS) and staff from related schools at UESTC.

The meeting discussions were on International Students aims at UESTC from I come”, “I Experience” and “I learn and grow at UESTC.

The vice president, Professor Xiong Caidong said that given the context of “Belt and Road” Initiative, UESTC has actively responded the national imitative in recent years in line with implementing the UESTC strategy for Internalization - One of top three strategies for building UESTC as one of the world-class universities and first-class disciplines. He also said he was more than pleased to know that many UESTC international students from the “Belt and Road” countries have graduated with merits. He also indicated that UESTC would carry out more in-depth cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road”, because he believes that after returning to their home countries, they will definitely play an active role in enhancing the friendly relations between China and their countries.

At the graduation meeting, UESTC international graduates also shared their academic research, cultural learning and campus life with all the participants present. Among the students include JUNEJO SARMAD ALI from Pakistan, the president of the 2018 International Student Union, LABENA ABRAHAM ALEMAYEHU from Ethiopia, NUSENU SHADDRACK YAW, a Ghanaian student of assistant researcher for CWAS of UESTC, FERNANDEZ DIEZ FRANCISCO JAVIER, also known as “Fei Yuqing” in Chinese,SANDAMAHERY FANIRY from Madagascar, and SANDRA CHUKWUDUMEBI OBIORA from Nigeria.

Professor Di Aiying, Dean of the School of International Education, said that the academic requirements of the University of Electronic Science and Technology are very strict. She expressed her appreciations for outstanding international students contributions to UESTCs international talent development and multicultural development. She hopes that after graduation, students would remember the international education slogan I come, I experience, I learn and I grow.

Professor Zhao, from the School of Public Affairs and Administration, the director of CWAS of UESTC congratulated their graduation and her special appreciations for those international students who have been engaged in West African Studies from economical, cultural and social development by Book Series on West African Studies and Lecture Series on West African Studies.
