The 6th International Cultural Festival

On September 26th, 2016, the 6th International Cultural Festival was held in University of Electronic and Technology of China. Secretary of the CPC Committee Wang Zhiqiang, Vice President Xiong Caidong, teachers, staff and alumni from around the country and abroad gathered on the Student Center playground and participate in this grand event.

Teachers from the school of International Education said that this year more than 35 countries students set up their own cultural booths including Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Russia and Venezuela, over 450 foreign students joined in the culture display and a total of 3000 people gathered at the playground in order to watch the show. For everyone in UESTC, the anniversary day is the happiest festival. Look, the cheerful dance in the front of the Student Center expresses the joy of foreign alumni, the touching songs deliver the excitement of the reunion of the alumni after such a long separation, and the delicious food shows the best wishes for the university.  The national flags pinned on foreign students' chest are sparkling under the sunshine, which marks the exclusive honor of being a part of UESTC.

Anniversary day is the busiest for the students. On the stage, the representatives from Bangladesh, the Republic of Benin and other countries gave their cultural gifts to the university; the representatives from Yemen prepared a birthday cake; Saudi Arabia students made a handbook on the friendship between China and Saudi Arabia. At 8 am in the morning, Bangladesh students have drawn pictures on the playground, beauties from Rwanda expressed their best wishes through graceful dance. At last, teachers from the School of International Education were on behalf of the whole staff offered the congratulation to the university, which also signified that the celebration had officially launched.

The International Cultural Festival is a special activity during anniversary days when everyone associated with UESTC deeply feel the thick emotions and love they have attached to their alma mater. On this auspicious day, Wang Zhiqiang visited every booth and asked students' major and their campus life, he also encouraged foreign students to study hard and make the university more international atmosphere. “As part of UESTC we are very proud, we will introduce more homeland friends to study here.”two students from Rwanda said in Chinese.

With the previous difference was that this year the International Cultural Festival “passport”was custom-built for the 60th anniversary by the School of International Education. Li Miao, a student of the School of Foreign Languages, one who has attended this festival once, she said:“my goal of this year is collect 35 national stamps, and get the anniversary gift by lottery.”And she was very interested in the new national booths like Venezuela,Belarus,Cyprus and so on. With the experience of assistant in International Student Office, Li Miao said the festival this year was an unprecedentedly great occasion, and she sincerely hope that the all work of the university will be better and better.

Teachers and students holding the “passport”lingered over exhibition areas,ate amazing food and made friends with foreign people. Sumptuous international buffet attracted many students. Another star attraction for Chinese students and teachers was the beautiful Byelorussian. “Today is the most memorable day of my life, I love the alma mater”Gift in Ghana said.

The festival was organized by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (School of International Education). After 6 years development, now more than 700 foreign students study there. They hope experience Chinese culture and show their own culture. As part of UESTC, their joy and happiness they felt cannot be expressed with words. Each and every UESTC student is growing up with the alma mater, and they would spread the spirit of “The Atmosphere of Seeking Truth” around the world.
