On April 19th, 2018, the first performance for “Singing Chinese Songs by International Students” of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) was held in the Jiuzhou Hall of the Students Activity Centre at Qingshuihe Campus of UESTC. 

This competition is the first time that UESTC held foreigners singing Chinese songs with institutes and media from outside UESTC. It is also one of the selection competitions of the singing event "I Love China, I Love Sichuan" foreigners singing Chinese songs in Sichuan Province.

In attendance of the event were, representatives from the Center for West African Studies, School of International Education, School of Public Affairs and Administration, School of Computer Science and Engineering and others participate of UESTC. The competitors include more than 20 international students from Venezuela, Ethiopia, Ghana and Uzbekistan of UESTC. They expressed their understanding towards Chinese songs and Chinese culture via their voices. Hundreds of Chinese students and international students watched the competition alive. 

All competitors sung skilfully in expressing their love for UESTC and Chinese culture. They received a lot of applause from judges and audience.

After the judges scored on the spot, the international student Dietz from Venezuela won the first prize, and the other nine players or groups won the second or third prizes.
