Public Administration Ⅱ of CWAS Book Series on West African Studies(UESTC)Published by Social Sciences Academic Press (China)

Public Administration Ⅱ: On Poverty Alleviation, Food Security and Public Health in Ghana: Challenges and Responses, one of CWAS Book Series on West African Studies, was completed by the team group of Center for West African Studies (CWAS), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and was published in August 2021 by Social Sciences Academic Press (China). (ISBN: 978-7-5201-8787-9)

This book features three topics: Poverty Alleviation in Ghana, Food Security and Sustainability in Ghana: Challenges and Responses, and Public Health in Ghana: Current Status and Countermeasures. The book provides an in-depth analysis of three major issues facing the government of Ghana in national and social development, with the aim of offering some references for poverty reduction practices in developing countries, safeguarding food security in sub-Saharan Africa, and protecting global public health.

This book firstly compares Ghana’s poverty alleviation program, and concludes the experience of “Model of ‘Electronic Information+ for Poverty Elimination in Cengong County of Guizhou Province, which can be learnt by Ghana, and proposes the strategic priorities for Ghana’s future poverty alleviation efforts. Secondly, this book also proposes to address the challenges of agricultural development and promote food security in Ghana by analyzing the factors that constrain the productivity of food crops and hinder self-sufficiency. And then, corresponding suggestions are put forward. Thirdly, this book systematically introduces the status quo of public health in Ghana, expounds the impact of economy, politics and society on its reform policies and discusses the challenges it faces, and then sets forth specific countermeasures to promote the development of public health in Ghana.
