1.Overview of the Essay Contest

A Letter to International Students of UESTC:

China has made huge achievements that have inspired the world. We are launching the 4th Essay Contest with the theme of“China in My Eyes — China’s digital development in my eyes”. This Essay Contest aims to promote the understanding of China’s development and prospects among international students, thereby fostering friendly relations between China and other countries. Participants are encouraged to contribute from perspectives such as artificial intelligence, industrial software, smart cities, etc., to explore the achievements of China’s digital construction—including the development of digital government, digital health, digital education, and digital communication, as well as changes in people’s lifestyles and ways of thinking. Submissions may also address challenges and coping strategies faced during digital transformation era.

International students from UESTC are welcome to join us. It is our firm belief that we can foster mutual understanding and friendship among participants in an open air. Let us work together to promote friendly exchanges between China and other countries for digital development with a shared future!

2. Rules of Essay Contest

(1) General requirements:

The essay must be original, unpublished, and no plagiarism. It must not violate confidential regulations. The essay should focus on the theme, with arguments clearly articulated. Submissions should demonstrate clear insights, innovative ideas, and readability.

(2) The requirements for essay submissions:

Theme: “China in My Eyes — China’s digital development in my eyes”

Word Count: Up to 3000 words

Language: Chinese/English

The submission includes (in order): Title; Author’s Name; Author Affiliation, Address, ZIP Code, Contact Information and the Essay.

(3) Eligibility of candidates:

International students and International alumni of UESTC

(4) Contest Important Dates:

Submission on or before: May 25, 2025

Notification Date: July 25, 2025


3. Awards:

First prize (1 winner): certificate with cash award of 2000 RMB

Second prizes (2 winners): certificates with cash award of 1500 RMB for each winner

Third prizes (3 winners): certificates with cash award of 800 RMB for each winner

Outstanding awards (5 winners): certificates with souvenirs

Awarded high-quality essays may be recommended for publication in our partner journals upon approval of peer review.
