The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) continues to showcase its international excellence as two outstanding PhD students under the supervision of Professor Zhao Shurong have been appointed to major leadership roles for the upcoming academic year.


Jao Pascal Anthony, a committed and dynamic PhD candidate from the School of Management and Economics, has been elected as the President of the International Students Union for the 2024–2025 academic year. His leadership capabilities and commitment to inclusivity and student service were recognized with an official appointment letter dated September 9, 2024.

In parallel, Koroma Abu Bakarr, another exceptional PhD scholar from the School of Management and Economics, has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the Country League Executive (CR) at UESTC for the 2025–2026 academic year. His appointment was confirmed through a formal Letter of Appointment issued by the School of International Education on June 19, 2025. This new role highlights Mr. Koroma’s dedication to fostering cross-cultural collaboration among international students on campus.

Both students are currently pursuing their doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor Zhao Shurong from the School of Public Administration, and Director of the Center for West African Studies, a respected figure in international academic circles at UESTC. These appointments are not only a testament to their individual talents and leadership potential but also reflect the nurturing educational environment fostered by the university and Professor Zhao’s guidance.
