Congratulations! Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi, team member of CWAS and PhD Candidate of SEM of UESTC, has been awarded the "Best Researcher Award" at the 19th Edition of COS 2025 Computer Scientists Awards from Netherlands

The Centre for West African Studies (CWAS), in proud affiliation with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), is delighted to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi, a distinguished young scholar and doctoral researcher, on being honored with the "Best Researcher Award" at the 19th Edition of the COS 2025 Computer Scientists Awards.

This prestigious accolade, awarded under the domain of Data Science and Analytics (Entry ID: 2783), stands as a testament to Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi’s exceptional contributions to scientific research, innovation, and academic excellence on an international stage. As a dedicated member of CWAS and a doctoral candidate in Management Science and Engineering at UESTC, Chengdu, China, under the supervision of Professor Liang Decui. Dr. Gadafi continues to exemplify the highest standards of scholarly rigor and intellectual curiosity.

Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics with Economics from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana, and an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Currently advancing his doctoral studies, he has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance, earning recognition such as the 2024 Chinese Government Grant for excellent performance as an International Student.

His research spans a wide and impactful range of fields, including mathematical modelling, optimization techniques, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM/MADM/MODM), machine learning, scientific computing, iterative methods, preconditioning techniques for large linear systems, consumer behavior, business intelligence, and information management. His interdisciplinary approach bridges computational science with real-world socio-economic challenges, particularly in the West African context.

Notably, Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi has been actively engaged in collaborative research initiatives under the auspices of CWAS, working closely with Professor Zhao Shurong, Director of CWAS-UESTC. His contributions have significantly advanced several joint research projects focused on data-driven policy analysis, digital transformation in African economies, e-business risk analysis and intelligent systems for sustainable development. These collaborations underscore CWAS’s mission to foster transnational academic partnerships and generate knowledge that empowers West African communities.

In addition to his research excellence, Tamimu Mohammed Gadafi serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computing and Informatics at Lakeside University College, Ghana, where he inspires the next generation of African scholars and technologists.
