【Call for Submissions:】Talks on West Africa Issued by West Africa Research Center, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)

To enrich the content system and support the compilation of research books on West African countries, our flagship column Talks on West Africa has launched three sub-columns: International Students’ Stories, Special Observations and Country Profiles. The columns cover 16 sovereign countries in West Africa defined by the United Nations and 15 traditional member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). We welcome long-term submissions from all relevant contributors.


1. Sub-columns & Target Contributors

1.1 International Students’ Stories

For UESTC international students, alumni, Chinese artists and cultural workers living in West Africa. Focus on study experience, daily life and cross-cultural communication.

1.2 Special Observations

For Chinese entrepreneurs, enterprise staff and industry practitioners in West Africa. Focus on Sino-West Africa economic and trade cooperation, enterprise operation and industrial practice.

1.3 Country Profiles

For researchers, diplomats, field workers and industry experts. Each article focuses on one single West African country, covering politics, society, featured industries, economy and local culture.

2. Manuscript Requirements

• Genre: Essays, stories, field notes and thematic analysis; Word count: 1500–2000 (max 2200 for in-depth articles)

• Language: Chinese or English (English articles must attach a complete Chinese translation)

• All works must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism and multiple submissions are strictly prohibited.

• Submit documents in Word format. Clearly mark your name, identity and contact information at the end. Relevant original photos are accepted.

This is an ongoing call for submissions. Manuscripts will be reviewed and published in batches.

4. Copyright & Achievement Transformation

The West Africa Research Center holds the right to edit, publish and compile accepted articles into books and collections. All authors retain the right of authorship. Outstanding contributors will be included in our author talent pool.
