From September 24 to October 2, 2026, the 2026 Ghana Governance Training Programme was successfully held at the
University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). The event was co-organised by the Center for West
African Studies of UESTC and the UESTC Base for Sichuan Provincial Cadre Education and Training.
Fifteen participants from Ghana’s higher-education institutions and local public administration authorities took part
in systematic studies on the modernisation of public governance through special classroom teaching, on-site teaching
and panel discussions.
This training forms part of a cultural exchange event series of 2026 China-Africa people-to-people and cultural
exchanges hosted by the Center for West African Studies of UESTC. Centred on themes including global and regional
governance, digital smart governance, and urban-rural industrial development, the programme integrated classroom
sessions with field studies. It deepened experience-sharing on state governance between China and Ghana and further
boosted mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between the two sides.
The programme drew attention from major domestic Chinese media. On October 5, China City Network, a national first-tier
news website supervised by People’s Daily, published a report titled Mutual Learning and Friendly Exchanges —
2026 Ghana Governance Training Programme Successfully Completes in China, covering the curriculum, field visits,
China-Ghana exchanges and the closing ceremony.
