On July 9, 2017, the UESTC students of the Ghanaian Social Practice team finally arrived at the destination, Gold Coast, Ghana, after a 14-hour flight.
Then, under the leadership of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the students visited the tropical campus. The GIMPA guide gave students a detailed introduction to their schools' departments, learning methods, and so on.
The next day, the students went to Black Start Square, where the guide named Gifity detailed the country's history and events. Black Star Square was built to honor Ghanaians who opposed the British colonists and sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom and equality. Black represents their skin color, and stars represent the country as a rising star.
Then the students visited the first president’s memorial park and his museum for his departed life. The students learned about the long history of diplomatic relations between China and Ghana and the friendly diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On the third day, the principal of GIMPA welcomed UESTC students. The teachers and students of the two universities conducted full exchanges and understood each other's history, culture, etc. Shi Yumin, leading teacher of UESTC, gave GIMPA a well-prepared lecture and a special gift to express the gratitude for GIMPA, and hoped that the students of the two schools would interact with each other, learn from each other, and enhance their international perspective.
