On September 23, 2017, the Ghanaian social practice team consisting of 34 undergraduates from School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Glasgow College and School of Information and Software Engineering and two leading teachers of UESTC went to Ghana. They conducted a half-month social practice project at University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and University of Mines and Technology (UMAT).

After 17 hours of plane and 6 hours of bus, UESTC students and teachers arrived and were divided into three teams to reach the corresponding schools. The students and teachers felt the enthusiasm from the local schools through a special meeting and welcome dinner.

The students soon put into the tight schedule of practice. The first week was mainly about courses of cultural exchanges. In the classroom, the students were treated with enthusiasm by the local teachers and students. Students learn together with Ghanaian students in electrical experiments, programming and writing, English language and culture, French basics, mechanical principles and computer basics.

At the same time, our teachers, students and local college students in Ghana also held cultural exchange activities in different forms, including relics, public youth dreams, art and cultural performances. The cultural performances enabled the students to have a deep understanding of Ghana's national culture and deepen their understanding of Ghana. Students from UESTC also introduced our country and school to Ghanaian students and sang a song called "Friends" together with Ghanaian students for the friendship.

In the second week, the students dedicated themselves to presenting vivid and wonderful lessons for Ghanaian students in Chinese, computer, calculus and mechanics. Students averaged two or three lessons per day. The active teaching of students received enthusiastic responses from local students.

The busy two weeks soon came to an end. The UESTC teachers and students had established a profound friendship with teachers and students in Ghana. The teachers and students of Ghana went to the airport to see off the UESTC teachers and students. In the afternoon of October 9, 2017, all 36 members returned to the school safely. Although the social practice activity to Ghana has ended, cooperation with African universities is just about to start.
