Biography
LI Anshan, Adjunct professor of UESTC, professor of School of International Studies at PKU, Chair of Chinese Society of African Historical Studies, Vice Chairman of International Scientific Committee of the General History of Africa (Vol. IX-XI), Vice Chair of Chinese Association of African Studies, etc. He has published many books both in Chinese and English, including A History of Modern Africa (2021), The African Dream (2013), A Study on African Nationalism (2004), A History of Chinesse Overseas in Africa (2000), British Rule and Rural Protest in Southern Ghana (1999), China and Africa in Global Context: Encounter, Policy, Cooperation & Migration (Cape Town 2020), G. Shelton, F. Yazini April, Li Anshan, eds., FOCAC 2015: A New Beginning of China-Africa Relations (Pretoria, 2015), Li Anshan& Funeka Yazini April, eds., Forum on China-Africa Cooperation: The Politics of Human Resource Development (Pretoria, 2013), A History of Overseas Chinese in Africa to 1911 (New York, 2012), FOCAC Twelve Years Later (Uppsala, 2012), Chinese Medical Cooperation in Africa (Uppsala, 2011), and British Rule and Rural Protest in Southern Ghana (New York, 2002), etc.
He has attended the Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC in 2000 and Beijing Summit of FOCAC in 2006 as a special invited guest, and has been invited to give lectures and academic presentations in more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the United States and Europe. For many years, he has been involved in training and exchange programs for officials organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of Commerce, and has served as a lecturer in the Master’s Program for Foreign Military Officers at the International College of Defense Studies of the National Defense University. He has also served on the editorial boards of African Insight (India), Legon Humanities (University of Ghana), Brazilian Journal of African Studies, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. He is a member of the editorial boards of academic journals in Singapore and Malaysia.
