In the afternoon of October 19, 2021, LI Anshan, Adjunct professor of UESTC, professor of School of International Studies at PKU, Chair of Chinese Society of African Historical Studies gave a lecture entitled “Area and Country Studies in China” to the students of UESTC via online meeting.
Prof. Li firstly introduced us to the historical tradition of area and country studies in China and gave us a systematic explanation of the research contributions of Japan, Britain and the United States during the colonial invasion. And then he focused on contemporary Chinese area and country studies and pointed out that contemporary Chinese area and country studies are beneficial to enhance further understanding of the world, to learn from the achievements of other civilizations and development experiences, and to promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign humanities and social sciences.
Professor Li's lecture opened up the students' international horizon, guided them to get to know current events, and promoted friendly exchanges between Chinese and foreign students while introducing area studies.
