LIU Guijin, recipient of the “July 1 Meda”l and former Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. He served as Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Zimbabwe, Director General (Africa) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to South Africa, and the first Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs. Dedicated to diplomatic affairs concerning Africa, he has made outstanding contributions to the development of China-Africa relations through actively promoting the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), carrying forward China-Africa friendship, playing a bigger part in deepening cooperation between China and Africa, and firmly defending China’s interests and international image in Africa.
